Third Grade Reading/Language Arts/Writing
This course is aligned to the Common Core Standards of Reading, Language Arts, and Writing. The reading skill development throughout the course focuses on cause and effect, author’s point of view, point of view, theme, and sequencing. Students will be reading and writing fiction and nonfiction texts. Students write routinely over extended time frames (time for research, reflection, and revision) and shorter time frames (a single sitting or a day or two) for a range of tasks, purposes, and audiences. The writing development throughout the year hone the skills of clarifying voice, using a strong voice, and adding details. Third grade writers also focus on grade appropriate spelling, grammar, and conventions. Students will use iPads daily to access and practice core concepts.
