Third Grade Math

The course integrates and develops all strands of mathematical proficiency and practice including geometry, fractions, multiplication, division, and measurement. Students master multiplication and division within 100. Students add and subtract fluently within 1,000. Students will apply these operations to multi-step, real-world problems that connect to their everyday lives. Mathematically proficient students start by explaining to themselves the meaning of a problem and looking for entry points to its solution. Third grade units include topics covering the following core concepts: Place Value and Multi-Digit Addition and Subtraction; Lines, Line Segments, and Quadrilaterals; Addition and Subtraction Word Problems; Figures, Angles, and Triangles; Use Addition and Subtraction; Patterns; Multiplication and Division with 0-5, 9, and 10; Area and Perimeter; Multiplication and Division with 6, 7, and 8 and Problem Solving; Multiplying and Dividing Larger Numbers; Time; Exploring Fractions, Probability, and Division with Remainders; Three-dimensional Figures; Measurement; Directions and Locations. Students will use iPads daily to access and practice core concepts.
